Do you need a presentation?

We have a number of topics for your group.

Whether you are a K-12 school, university, college, church, interfaith group, Federal agency, civic organization, municipality or a business, we can provide you with a presentation that meets your need.

Here are some of the topics we cover:

Sikhism 101

Ever wanted to know about the basics of Sikhism?

Description.
Sikhism is the worlds fifth largest religion, yet it is virtually unknown to the American public. Guru Nanak, the founder of the faith, was born in 1469, in the Punjab Valley in Southeast Asia. Guru Nanak traveled extensively throughout what is now known as the Middle East, Pakistan and India. He laid the foundations for the basic tenets of this universal religion.

Sikhism 101 provides an overview of the faith, including a context within world history, the beginnings of the religion, its founders, the key values and beliefs, the evolution of Sikhism to its current form with the 5K (symbols of the faith) and finally, a brief discussion of Sikhism in the US, Canada and other Western countries.

We have presented Sikhism 101 to all audiences from Grade 6, Middle school (e.g SGMS), High school (e.g EHS), all the way to university/college level at CU Boulder/Denver, MSU, CCA.  We have also presented to business groups, intercultural organizations, churches, interfaith and Federal Government organizations.  The audience size is anywhere from 20-250 people.  The presentation can be tailored to fit your needs.

Depending on the target audience, the presentation can be very basic to very interactive, with timing from 10-120 minutes.  We have hands on with the articles of the faith and show how a turban is tied.  There are few limitations to what we can do with advance notice and preparation time.  For example, at one school, we had a team of community members come in and tie turbans on over 600 students during 3 assemblies.  The presentation was coupled with other free time to meet the needs of the school.

This presentation can be tailored to your needs.  How can we help you?  Click on the contact page and send us an email, or better still, give us call for a quick conversation.

What is the "Creation" story in Sikhism?

All traditions have a belief structure around the creation of the world and of the universe.  Sikhism has a unique perspective on the birth of this Universe, and of others.

Description:

This is a our second most popular presentation.  What does Sikhism say about all the "stuff" we see in the Universe?  Is there life on other worlds?  This presentation covers the following questions:

1) What was “there” before all of this?

2)
Where did “it” all come from?

3) When was “it” created?

4) Is there more than “us and this”?

5) Does "it" go on forever or does "it" end?

Teacher Training

Teachers often do not have ready access to materials or training on how to teach the Eastern religions.  As a result, Sikhism receives very little attention in most middle and high schools.  Often, the information that does exist is incomplete or inaccurate.

We teach teachers how to teach Sikhism.  Our Sikhism 101 teacher training course consists of an on-site presentation that follows with a conversation on lesson planning.  Both new and veteran teachers can easily configure and tailor their own course based on the materials we provide.

We have completed teacher training for Douglas County School District (DCSD) and the program is available for Colorado based educators.  On a number of occasions, we have presented to a class of middle and high school students with the teacher in attendance.  The teachers took notes while we presented and were then able to understand and to teach the material on their own.

This program is offered in conjunction with our partners.  It can be highly customized to meet your specific needs.
